About Glengoyne
The Glengoyne distillery is located near the village of Dumgoyne, which lies in an idyllic setting in the western Highlands, about ten kilometers from the much-sung Loch Lomond. There is an abundance of crystal clear water available from a small river and numerous streams. This water is used from a lake for the mash and cooling.
A very distinctive characteristic of Glengoyne Whisky is that for Glengoyne, unlike many other single malt Whiskies, only warm air is used, instead of the smoke from burning peat, to dry the barley. This allows the other elements that are so decisive for the character of Glengoyne, such as the water, the malted barley, the oak and sherry flavors of the casks, and the pure Glengoyne air, to shine through much better.
