The Glenlivet, 12 years - 200 Year Anniversary Edition 70cl

This limited edition was released to mark the 200th anniversary of The Glenlivet, founded in 1824 by George Smith. For this anniversary edition, the distillery collaborated with artists from 42 countries. More than 400 designs were submitted for the label and packaging. The final design was created by Studio Berdi from Colombia. The whisky is aged for 12 years and matured entirely in first-fill American oak casks. These are casks being used for whisky for the first time, allowing notes of vanilla, oak and sweetness to remain clearly present. The Glenlivet was one of the first legal distilleries in Scotland’s Speyside region. Smith personally received permission from King George IV to distil whisky under an official licence. In the years that followed, the name "The Glenlivet" became so well known that other distilleries attempted to imitate it. Eventually, The Glenlivet obtained the exclusive right to place “The” before its name.
