The Glenmorangie distillery in the Highlands was founded in 1843 and is known for its use of tall distillation columns and a carefully controlled maturation process. The whisky is initially matured in American oak casks that were previously used for bourbon. It then receives a finish in Madeira casks. The whisky is bottled at 43% alcohol.
