Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 is a remarkable Islay whisky that enjoys pushing boundaries. This single malt comes from Bruichladdich Distillery, located on the rugged west coast of the island of Islay in Scotland. Octomore takes its name from the nearby farm of the same name and has grown into a series where craftsmanship and experimentation come together. Octomore 16.2 is created using extremely heavily peated Scottish barley, but its story goes far beyond smoke. The whisky gains extra character through maturation in a selection of special casks, including Oloroso sherry and wine casks, followed by a finish in Madeira and Moscatel casks. It is almost as if a traditional Islay whisky sets off on a journey, collecting new stories along the way. This edition shows that a powerful whisky can also be surprisingly refined and full of curiosity.
