About Strathmill
Strathmill was originally built as a corn mill. In 1825, distilling began, but from 1837 to 1891 the location was used again for grinding grains before serving once more as a distillery. The whisky distillery was originally called Glenisla and was only renamed Strathmill after the acquisition by Gilbey's the Gin Company. Many mergers and acquisitions later, Strathmill came into the hands of Diageo.
The spirit produced at the Strathmill distillery is transferred to Auchroisk to be filled into oak casks. Some casks are returned to Strathmill to mature.
