About Fettercairn
The Fettercairn distillery is located on the bank of the North Esk, a river that flows into the sea. Fettercairn, like all distilleries, has been closed a few times and has also changed owners several times. In 1887, the distillery was destroyed by fire and was then rebuilt. Fettercairn ceased production between 1926 and 1939 when it was taken over by Trein & McIntyre, who owned the Associates Scottish Distillers. In 1966, two distillation units were added. Only 5% of the production is marketed as single malt, the rest is used in blends.
