About Blair Athol

Blair Athol was founded around 1798. Peter MacKenzie bought the distillery around 1850 and made it popular in Scotland and England. The distillery closed for a long period and only reopened in 1949. In 1970, production was doubled. The current owner is Diageo. A very small percentage of the production is released as single malt, including the Flora and Fauna bottling. The majority is used in blends, including those of Johnnie Walker and Bell's.
