A gin category in its own right: Plymouth Gin. In the past, the city of Plymouth was home to many gin makers. Today, only one remains: the Black Friars Distillery. This distillery has been producing gin since 1793. Their Navy Strength is legendary; for over 200 years, no warship has left the harbor without a bottle on board. The recipe for Plymouth Gin has always been based on seven botanicals: juniper, coriander, cardamom, orange and lemon peel, orris root, and angelica root.
