Moët & Chandon champagne is a timeless and sparkling embodiment of luxury, sophistication, and festive celebration. As one of the world's most celebrated champagne brands Moët & Chandon has built a legacy of more than 270 years, mastering the art of creating great champagne has perfected. From the glistening vineyards to the elegant bottles, every aspect of Moet & Chandon reflects the passion and dedication needed to produce extraordinary champagne.
Moët & Chandon's pursuit of perfection begins in the vineyards, where the grapes are carefully selected and hand-harvested. The vineyards cover some of the most prestigious terroirs in the Champagne region, including those of the famous 'Grand Cru' and 'Premier Cru' classifications.
After the harvest, the delicate process of vinification begins, where the grapes are pressed and fermented with utmost precision. Moët & Chandon's champagnes undergo long-term aging in the cellars, resulting in a complex and rich flavor development. The characteristic bubble formation and texture are achieved through a second fermentation in the bottle, a process known as the 'méthode traditionnelle'.
It all began in the year 1743 in Épernay, France, when Moët and Chandon produced their first Champagne. It was far from being the largest Champagne brand it is now. With more than 600 hectares of vineyards in thirteen of the seventeen grand cru villages in Champagne, this is still not enough to meet the enormous demand. More than 75% of the grapes are bought from externally contracted farmers. In the cellars of Moët & Chandon, more than 100 million bottles are aging. In total, the Champagnes of Moët and Chandon are made from the grapes of more than 200 different vineyards.
In 1743, Moët & Co. was founded by the French wine merchant Claude Moët. The name Chandon was not added until 1833. Claude Moët's grandson left the company to his son Victor Moët. Then in 1833, Victor's brother-in-law, Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles, became a partner in the company, and the name Chandon was added, changing it from Moët & Co to Moët & Chandon.
Moët & Chandon offers a range of champagnes that vary in style, taste, and occasion. Some of the most notable cuvées are:
