The water source of Dewar's is the Pitilie Burn. This water plays an important role in the production of Aberfeldy's single malt whisky. But just as interesting is that the Pitilie Burn has long had an attraction for gold seekers, as gold has been found in this modest river in the past. That is also why Aberfeldy is sometimes referred to as the 'Golden Dram'.
A long fermentation is one of the trademarks of Aberfeldy, perhaps even more so in the past than now. During that process, the foundation is laid for the characteristic honey flavor.
