About Strathisla
The Strathisla distillery dates back to 1786 and is thus the oldest distillery still in production in the Highlands. Strathisla means the bed of the river Islay, which flows through the town of Keith. In the thirteenth century, monks used the spring for brewing beer. The same water has been used since 1786 for distilling this unique whisky. The distillery was purchased by Chivas Brothers in 1950 and has since been the heart of every bottle of Chivas Regal.
Strathisla, also known as 'Home of Chivas', gives the blend a full, nutty sweetness and subtle aromas of wildflowers. With its two pagoda roofs, working waterwheel, and walls built from gray stones, this distillery is one of the most distinctive in Scotland and well worth a visit.
