Dimple Blended Scotch Whisky has been a trusted, beloved whisky among consumers for centuries. Due to its high quality, this brand has a loyal following. Anyone who has ever had the fortune to taste this whisky undoubtedly knows what we're talking about. By the way, one of the most famous whisky families of all time was once involved in the development of this blended whisky. Dimple: history, tradition, and quality!
Long before David Beckham acted as an ambassador for Haig Club Dimple Haig was already present. This blended whisky has existed since the late 19th century and was at that time the more luxurious, refined brother of the standard Haig & Haig blend. In the United States, this whisky is known by the name Dimple Pinch.
The shape of the bottle is unique and distinctive. It is not clear whether the name is derived from that shape, or if it is the other way around. The triangular, oval bottle with indented sides certainly stands out, especially due to the golden web that is spun around the bottle.
In 1893, Dimple Haig first appeared on the market during a time when the demand for blended Scotch whisky surged. The Haig family had already been involved in whisky distillation for many generations and had built an enormous network in the Scottish Lowlands. They were thus in a perfect position to capitalize on the growing popularity of Scotch whisky.
In 1888, perhaps the most important step for the brand was taken. That was the year when brothers Alicius and Hugh Vietch Haig decided to set up an export branch to the United States. In the lead-up to Prohibition, the brothers managed to elevate the popularity of Dimple Whisky to great heights. After Prohibition, that upward trend was simply resumed. Strangely enough, the brand disappeared in the United Kingdom, but outside of it, millions of bottles were sold around the millennium.
Dimple also did not go unnoticed in popular culture. James Bond drank Dimple in the books of Ian Fleming. And Dimple was also the favorite whisky of drug lord Walter White in the television series Breaking Bad.
Dimple Whisky is a luxury blend that consists mainly of Glenkinchie. This Lowland whisky gives Dimple a soft, smooth tasting experience that you don't often encounter with blended whiskies.
