Brora Whisky
Brora Whisky is the holy grail of rare whisky. The original name of this distillery was Clynelish which is now its own, separate entity. whisky brand The founder is the Marquis of Stafford; he would later become the Duke of Sutherland. He obtained a distilling license in 1824. The distillery was purchased by James Ainslie & Co. in 1896. That company later became part of Diageo. The distillery was closed in 1938. A new distillery was built in 1967 and named Clynelish 2.
The Brora distillery closed its doors permanently in 1983, making Brora whisky increasingly rare. Or so it seemed. The Brora distillery was restarted by Diageo in 2023. However, no new whiskies have been produced yet.
