How do you drink Patron Tequila?

Already in 1930 the Margarita was invented and since then this cocktail has gained a legendary status. Of course, you can also make a delicious Margarita with Patron Tequila. Below is a detailed explanation of how to do that. First of all, you will need the following ingredients.

• 45ml Patron Silver
• 30ml Patron Citronge Orange or triple sec
• 25ml version of lime juice
• Teaspoon of agave syrup

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Then fill a tumbler with ice and strain the contents of the shaker into the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. Optionally, you could decorate the rim of the glass with salt.

How is Patron Tequila made?

When Patron was sold more and more over the past decades, this tequila producer did not choose to make everything bigger and more massive. Instead, the original small batch approach of master distiller Francisco Alcarez was replicated. That’s why so many people (1800!) now work at the Patron Tequila distillery, which actually consists of many small distilleries.

Everything starts with the blue agave, also known as agave tequiliana. This agave comes from the Highlands of Jalisco. Patron is a 100% agave tequila with no further additives, as you see with mixto agave. The agave is cooked with steam in small ovens. This steam converts the starches into fermentable sugars. A perfectly cooked agave is juicy, fruity, and sweet.

After crushing the agave (using various types of mills), a fermentation period of 72 hours begins. According to Patron, the yeast used is responsible for up to 70% of the flavor. Distillation then takes place in copper stills, after which the aging of the Patron Tequila (excluding the unaged Silver tequila) lasts a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 7 years.
