Meet Bobby's Gin
Owner and founder Sebastiaan van Bokkel describes his Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin as Dutch Courage with Indonesian spices. And he's absolutely right. It is an exotic and modern gin. Bobby's Gin is inspired by the life story of Jacobus Alfons (Bobby to friends), who was born on Ambon in Indonesia. In the 1950s he emigrated to Schiedam and came into contact with Dutch gin.
He infused it himself with the flavors of home: Indonesian spices and herbs. Without being very conscious of it, Bobby made his own gin. Many decades later, his grandson Sebastiaan discovered an old bottle in his mother's house. Due to the special story behind the bottle, Sebastiaan decided to breathe new life into his grandfather's recipe.
Together with Herman Jansen, a centuries-old family business with its own distillery in Schiedam, he made a flavorful, delicious gin. The best of Dutch gin and Indonesian flavors were combined. The new gin was named after his grandfather. Since then, Bobby's Gin has become a staple in bars and liquor cabinets.
The flavors of Bobby's Gin
Using the botanicals, a handsome balance between east and west has been created. Only organic botanicals have been used:
- Juniper berry
- Coriander seed
- Fennel seed
- Rosehip
- Cloves
- Lemongrass
- Cubeb Pepper
- Cinnamon
It took about two years before Sebastiaan found the right recipe. In this process, his grandfather's original gin always served as the starting point. The botanicals are distilled separately in copper stills. Then they are carefully blended together.
Bobby's Gin Perfect Serve
The bottle of Bobby's Gin is a modern interpretation of the classic jenever bottle. The Ikat pattern on the bottle is traditionally Indonesian. There are also glasses available from Bobby's Gin with this beautiful pattern. The perfect serve of Bobby's Gin consists of several elements.
