About Scapa
The Orkneys or Orkney's comprise more than 200 islands. Mainland, the largest island, is home to the Scapa distillery. Scapa means boat and is derived from Norse. The Scapa distillery is one of the northernmost distilleries that exist and also one of the smallest. Only 2 pot stills contribute to a very limited production. The water, which has a distinctly heathy character, is sourced from the Lingro Burn. The pure flavor and smooth body are attributed to this.
The aging of the whisky takes place on the island itself in warehouses, which are directly located on Scapa Flow. All this data creates the expectation of a single malt with a clear island character, however nothing could be further from the truth. Any form of smoke and salt is absent.
