About Longmorn
Longmorn: described by the late whisky expert Michael Jackson as 'The best kept secret of the Speyside', praised by blenders and highly valued by the whisky connoisseur. This single malt whisky is therefore among the top whiskies from the Speyside.
The distillery, built by John Duff, dates back to 1893. The success of Longmorn can be partly attributed to the location of the distillery, namely on the edge of Laich O'Moray, one of the key areas for barley cultivation.
The name Longmorn is likely derived from Lann Marnoch, a missionary who preached Christianity to the local population around the year 625. Since Longmorn is not cold-filtered, adding a bit of water can slightly cloud the clarity.
The vast majority of Longmorn matures in 'first fill American oak casks'.
