About Glentauchers
The Glentauchers distillery was founded in 1897. The distillery produced excellent whisky for the blends, gaining a good reputation. When owner Lowrie retired, he sold the distillery to Buchanan. Later, the distillery became part of Diageo. Major renovations took place between 1923 and 1925. In 1966, four new stills were installed. Glentauchers was closed during World War II, like most of the distilleries in Scotland, and a second time between 1985 and 1989. Today, French Pernod Ricard owns it. Almost the entire production is used for blended whiskies. Glentauchers can occasionally be found in an independent bottling.
