About Glencadam
The Glencadam Distillery is located in the town of Brechin in the Eastern Highlands. Glencadam, like many distilleries, has a long history with various owners. The most interesting acquisition was in 2003 by Angus Dundee Distillers. This company had been experienced for over 50 years in producing gin, vodka, and whisky, making most for its own house labels such as Glen Parker, Angus Dundee, The Dundee, Scottish Royal, and MacKillops Choice. As mentioned, Glencadam was taken over in 2003 from the then-owner Allied Distillers after being mothballed for 3 years due to overproduction, and they now produce (2011) 1.5 million liters per year. The stocks they own are up to 30 years old. Almost the entire production is used in the blends ofBallantine’s.
