About Dailuaine
William MacKenzie founded the Dailuaine Distillery in 1852. 21 years after its establishment, a railway was built alongside the distillery. This significantly simplified the distribution of the whisky. His son, Thomas, made it one of the most important distilleries in the region. Until the crisis at the beginning of the 19th century, the distillery was doing excellently. After Thomas's death, a group of customers took over the distillery. Diageo bought the distillery, and is still the owner. Only a few % of the production is marketed as single malt. The rest of the production goes to the blends ofJohnnie Walker.
