Op papier is Eigashima de oudste Japanse whiskydistilleerderij: de distilleervergunning stamt namelijk al uit 1919. Maar de huidige distilleerderij bestaat sinds 1984 en hun eerste whisky verscheen pas in 2007 op de markt. De whiskyproductie bij dit bescheiden familiebedrijf is ook nu nog beperkt, want ze zijn alleen tijdens de warmere maanden actief. Hun gelimiteerde Akashi Sherry Cask rijpte 5 jaar in superieure sherryvaten: Japanse whisky op zijn best!
