Label 5 - Bourbon Barrel 1 liter

Label 5 Bourbon Barrel is een blended Scotch whisky die zijn naam dankt aan de extra rijping op bourbonvaten. Deze vaten, afkomstig uit de Amerikaanse whiskeyindustrie, worden vaak maar één keer gebruikt en daarna opnieuw ingezet in Schotland om whisky verder te laten rijpen. Dat geeft de blend een iets andere balans dan de klassieke Label 5. De whisky wordt geproduceerd door La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, een van de grotere onafhankelijke spelers in de Schotse whiskywereld. De bourbon barrel-rijping is bedoeld om extra zachtheid en toegankelijkheid toe te voegen aan de blend, zonder het karakter van de huisstijl te verliezen. Een leuk weetje: bourbonvaten zijn zo populair in Schotland omdat ze relatief betaalbaar zijn en toch veel invloed hebben op de rijping. Daardoor zie je ze in een groot deel van de Schotse whiskyproductie terug.
