Deze W.L. Weller whisky wordt gemaakt door de Buffalo Trace-distilleerderij in Frankfort, Kentucky, die whisky produceert onder verschillende labels per whiskystijl. Het merk Weller staat bekend om zijn ‘wheated’ whisky's, wat betekent dat de gebruikelijke rogge en gemoute gerst in bourbons, naast het minimum van 51% maïs, worden vervangen door tarwe, waardoor het zijn eigen kenmerkende smaak krijgt en toch een 100% Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey blijft. Wat deze bourbonwhisky extra bijzonder maakt, is dat hij 12 jaar heeft gerijpt in nieuw gekoolde Amerikaanse eikenhouten vaten, wat echt uniek is voor wheated bourbons.
