Cragganmore, 12 years 70cl

John Smith, de in die tijd de meest ervaren distillateur van Schotland, bouwde in 1869 de Cragganmore distilleerderij. De door hemzelf ontworpen spirit stills vallen op door hun ongewone vorm. Hij ontwierp deze destijds zelf om een lichter eindproduct te krijgen. De zwaardere alcoholen condenseren hierbij, vallen terug in de still en komen niet in het eindproduct terecht. Dit verklaart de enorme complexiteit van de Cragganmore malt. Whisky journalisten Michael Jackson en Dave Broom verkozen Cragganmore beiden als hun grote favoriet in deze prijsklasse.
